With its reputation as one of the top tourist resorts on the French Riviera, and the attendant glamour and glitz that that brings, it is no surprise that so many people buy into the idea of visiting this stunning destination. Whether you like to lie back in the sun, in order to get that tell-tale Cote d'Azur suntan, or stay active and explore the shops and attractions of the city, Nice has something to keep you busy throughout the day, and then serves up a high octane nightlife.
Aside from the (admittedly pebbly) beach in Nice, the city offers the usual French mix of top class shopping in small boutiques, picturesque churches, and a smattering of Roman remains, Nice is also home to some of the best nightlife that you will find in France.
Top attractions in Nice include the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Nice, a number of truly excellent museums of modern art, and the beautiful area of Vieux Nice - the old town, where you can immerse yourself in a world of winding streets and a mish-mash of architecture guaranteed to stun you.
The best time to visit the resort town of Nice is during the spring. The weather on the Cote d'Azur is at its most pleasant, with warm sun throughout the day, and pleasant evenings - rather than the baking heat of summer. Also, during the period from April through until June, the majority of local events take place including the Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix, and many other festivals.
